Sweden’s José González made a loud entrance with his quiet debut in 2005 with an album called Veneer. His signature sparse and barren sound, distinguished by virtuosic finger-picked guitar-playing and hushed, soft vocals have built huge worldwide acclaim, and aligned his art with the likes of Iron & Wine, Nick Drake and other masters of art-folk minimalism. With multiple projects on the go, including the band Junip and various soundtrack projects, González added a new album to his solo catalogue in 2015 with Vestiges & Claws, a dense, enthralling meditation of life on this ‘pale blue dot’ (Consequence of Sound).
